Paralegal Jobs and Their Typical Benefits
Monday, February 13th, 2012
Benefits are an important perk to paralegal jobs and when searching for a new paralegal job it is important to ask questions about the benefit packages offered for new hires. Most paralegals considering new employment may assume that their new position will offer the same as their former job in terms of benefits, but employers do differ. Ask what is included with the job, health, dental, vision insurance? Also ask if it is all paid or only a portion. Don’t assume because they have it that they will pay for it. Ask about other benefits too like 401k programs and if they match your funds. What vacations and holidays are paid and how long does it take to earn them. Be sure to ask about all benefits included so when offered the job you are not confused on what you are accepting. Some loss of benefits can make a salary increase less attractive.

Basics of Good Recruitment Software
Monday, February 13th, 2012
When you are looking at recruitment software programs and trying to choose the best one, it can be tough. The truth is that the right software for your company is really dependent on your company’s needs. Here are a few basics you need to consider when choosing a software program.
- Start with how many applicants you expect in your pool. Some software programs that are less advanced may require more steps to pull applicant reports.
- Consider how many fields you will need for your applicants and how many customizations your company will require. Depending on whether your company has a lot of ratings and scores to keep track of that aren’t part of the regular recruitment software, you may want a program that is highly customizable.
- Consider what types of reports you will want from your applicant data. When filtering applicants by score, location, or even experience, having a program that can simplify the steps and pull the report is a good decision to make.

Friday, February 10th, 2012
Not all job searches are the same. While you might be highly qualified and have a lot of experience, all of that will do you absolutely no good if you cannot find anyone looking for someone with your select set of skills. This is why online job boards have become popular in today’s culture. It makes finding a job with your skillset easy – or it lets you post up your resume, and the employers can find you.
Last year I had spent nearly three months searching locally and in the news paper for mechanical engineer jobs, but I was having no luck. It seemed as if all of the mechanical engineer jobs positions were taken, and chances are were going to be for some time. Then I found a job board based in the UK that had a few hundred employers looing for mechanical engineers! It was like a dream come true and one week after I had signed up with the job board, I had a nice new career.
